PATIENT ALIGNMENT

Incorrect patient positioning or movement during an MRI or CAT scan can degrade the resulting image. In order to produce a high quality medical image, patients must be in a specific position and remain in that position for the duration of the scan. Visible laser lines or crosses are used in the medical industry to achieve correct patient alignment.

PROJECTION MARKING (MEDICAL)

Physical patient marking using a pen or tape can be used in medical treatments to identify the treatment area. Laser projection marking presents an alternative to this method. Projection marking provides an outline of the treatment area without making physical contact with the patient. It is sometimes used for medical treatments, such as radiation therapy, to ensure the target area is being treated with high accuracy throughout the procedure.
